Just bought a 99 Mystique LS for a daily driver. I didn't realize how good a car it realy is and it's potential until after I looked at your web site. I'm no novice at performance cars, having restorded and driven Firebirds, Mustang GT and Thunderbird Turbo Coupes, but I am new at this front wheel drive business.

Will the cat bak systems for the Contour SVT fit up to the Mystique? Also will body panels such as the front and rear air dams and side skirts fit the Mystique without any mods? That's all now, but I know I'll have more questions in the future. Thanks

IIRC (and i'm no expert), any cat back system can be put on any contour/mystique (SVT, SE, LS, it doens't matter) but the SVT, especially after the Y-pipe has much higher flow. I know for a fact that you can attach the SVT exuast on it for less than $200. The side skirts will fit, but the bumpers and other contour body kits will not work. One guy over in GB or somewhere put on the SVT body conversion kit (search pics and vids), and it looked bad ass, but we concluded that he had to have molded panels together using fiberglass or some other technique becuase the bumper from an SVT contour will not bolt onto the mystique front end. Other than slight body differences, the contour and mystique are the same car. The mystiques have a much better looking stock rear end and hood, and they have so many more accessories inside the car (doorlights, floorlights, rear dome lamp, power seats, wood trim, nice leather, traction control and other things i can't remember). with some performance tweaks, you can make many contours jealous of the mercury counterpart.

You can add an SVT exhaust, however you will need an additional bracket and hanger for the passenger side (since the Mystique came stock with a single exhaust).

SVT side skirts and rear bumper can be put on without modification. An SVT front bumper needs to be molded with the mystique bumper to work (since the grills on each car differ).

An alternative to the SVT body kit is the SE rocker panel covers. It adds a nice touch and is very easy to do.
