Just wondering if anyone has experienced this? I tried running my ford servicecdrom today on my laptop and it won't do anything. I've installed and used it before...but now the program won't work, nor will the installer run. I'm monitoring both in task manager and it won't come up at all, not even for a second.
On my brother's laptop, his 16bit subsystem is completely corrupt. All programs 16bit(ford cdrom, alarm, obdII) crash on startup.
It ran on my desktop which has been collecting dust, so it wasnt a huge problem...but wtf! Why the hell don't people ship products with newly compiled and better software? Did they make this in VB3 or something?? ROFL!! (sorry for the nerd joke)

Ah, I've run into this issue indeed. I once tried to play good old C&C Red Alert, when that too, wouldnt launch. What you need to do is right click the icon of your application, and click the Compatibility Tab on the form that pops up. You will see all the options there

No dice...Same thing. The program has indeed worked on this computer at some point without doing the system compatibility thing.

I'm talking out the cornhole here, but your anti spam/firewall might be blocking it as a malicious program :shrugs: Not sure.

There is a fix.. hold on.. I'll find it... wait right here.
Back..
Try this:
Quote:
(This example assumes your CD-ROM is the D: Drive)
1. Insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into your CD drive.
2. Click the Windows Start Button, then click Run.
3. In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.
4. At the command prompt, type CD\ then press Enter
5. At the command prompt, type the following 4 commands, pressing ENTER after each command.
expand D:\i386\config.nt_ c:\windows\system32\config.nt
expand D:\i386\autoexec.nt_ c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt
expand D:\i386\command.co_ c:\windows\system32\command.com
exit

And the gold medal goes to Ray!! Thanks man, worked like a charm on my laptop. I'll try on my brother's later. Also, wherever you found that...is there an explaination for what happened? Bad windows update or something?
