So a regular Duratec intake is around 31/32 mm , correct? And the SVT's is 33/34 mm? upper or lower I am not sure. So has anyone tried taking a Stock Duratec to a machine shop and have them bore it ut 1/2 mm
thats .040" or .080" . I would like to get an upper SVT intake. I really just want the Special Vehicle Team plate that comes on the intake.
What can I do to change my Duratec into an SVT motor? I know the SVT intake is Extrude Honed ,correct.
Would the 3L stuff work also? My car s a 98

hey NO_CURE, i just came here to ask the same question, hopefully someone can help us. By the way, i have an SVT engine badge here that i took off a wrecked svt. its a little faded, but i can try to clean it maybe. make me an offer, ill take a pic of it for u soon.

My question is... how much can the non-svt upper and lower intake manifolds be bored/honed out to? i'd like to increase my throttle body, upper and lower intake to the biggest possible, but i know theres only so far i can go. any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would think it would be ok, as long as you don't add a supercharger
Maybe then the intakes would get a little weak.

i think it'd be cheaper to get a real SVT UIM than to pay to have extrudehone do it for you...

Yes it would! Since Extrude Hone's fee is PER PASS. The later model SVT's have a dual honed UIM. Extrude Hone's fee's alone on that cost more than the UIM from Ford!

1. More like 30/31 for the LIM.

2. More like 32/34 for the 98, 98.5, and early 99's. Late 99's & 00 SVT's have a 34/35 LIM

3. LIM. The UIM's are seperated by stages of Extrude Honing. Stock, Single honed SVT (98 & 98.5) & Dual honed SVT (99 & 00)

4. No; it has cast in liners.

5. Don't go there!

6. Buy an SVT engine. Parts/differences too numerous to list - do a search on this subject for an indepth answer!

7. So are the heads - (Secondary ports 98 & 98.5) (Primary & Secondary 99 & 00)

8. What 3L stuff? 3L block is a direct swap or hybrid option - again do a search for indepth info
