Has any one ever cut out the canister all toether on the pre cats and put a straight pipe in? If so how did it work and if not do you think its a good or bad idea?

Look at a picture of the manifolds and you will see that would not accomplish anything. (actually probably worsen performance)

The manifold is designed to be as wide as the converter section.
