Okay, I just replaced the rear sway bar links and the rear sway bar bushing on my 98 svt. It not creaks very loud instead of the clunk I had before. Should I have greased these? It just started after about 1,000 miles of driving on the new bushings. Any info would be great. Thanks

Eric

Not too sure myself. I'm having a similar problem. Mine creeks in the rear when I apply the brakes and come to a stop.

Anyone have an idea?

My suspension has about 20k on it. KYB's with Eibach springs and brand new mounts. It has to be the new bushings, never made the noise till after I replaced them.

I have 217K on my 97 Contour with a Duratec and ATX. Mine creaks only in the hot weather. Since I live in Las Vegas, needless to say, a good portion of the year. On my car, it is the front control arms of the rear suspension. It is the ones closer to the front of the car. I've tried silicone spray, WD40 and a few other spray lubes to no avail. The only thing that helps a little is PB Blaster. However, that stuff dries out bushings. The creaking noise comes from the center of the car and not on the other end of the control arms. Unfortunately you can't replace the bushings on the arms as they are all one piece. I got a quote of $300 to replace, but I'm sure that I could do better with parts with Bill Jenkins at Team Ford.

I had creaking from the rear suspension when braking. Could see anything wrong until I poked around the springs and found one spring was broken in it's seat where I could not see it.
