I have a 98 svt contour and my ac just stopped working. So before i do anything else im going to try and replace the freon or just refill it since i've never done it in the 2yrs of ownin the car. I need to know what to buy, it usually comes in like a can and it has a tube with a adaptor that u just plug into one of the ac lines somewhere.. i just u just turn on the ac and plug it in so to speek... well where is the spot where i just plug the freon into??? n what freon should i buy???

If all the R134 is gone, you cannot just simply add refrigerant. You must first evacuate the system with a vacuum pump. Any trapped air in the system means you have water as well. The water will freeze in the lines when you operate the A/C unless it is purged.

My advice - find someone who is knowledgeable with A/C, has a vacuum pump and the proper gauges, and have them show you what to do.

There is a good chance that you have a leak which must be taken care of but if you just want to A/C to last for a short while try this thread.
