I am very new to the forums and also to the pleasure of driving a contour. My Uncle and I just put a new engine into a contour and got it back up and running, we replaced the timing belt, the tensioner pulley, and the other pulley. Sorry for any mis-labeled parts, I'm a computer nerd who has just recently discovered the joys of working on my car. 4 days and around 175 miles after replacing the timing belt the car died on me, and my uncle had to tow it back to his shop. The timing belt had broken ( even though it was new and only had 175 miles on it ), so I took everything all apart and put a new timing belt on under the supervision of my uncle. This new timing belt seems to also be getting eaten up, my uncle made some modifacations to a brand new tensioner for the belt. Is there a known issue with this? I have searched all over the forum here and online and find mysterious references but no definative answer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
