OP svtnoob New CEG\'er S Joined: Jan 2006 Posts: 15 Toronto	Hi there, This morning when I started the Tour there was a whining noise coming from the engine. When revved between 1000 and 2000 RPM the noise got louder and disappered when over 2000 RPM. Somebody told me that it might be the bearing in the alternator. FavoriteMystaque Hard-core CEG\'er F Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 1,456	High pitched "whirr" type noise could be the alternator was under load (it would do this if the battery was low, like if you were listening to your system a long time). I have heard the moose a bit (it is lower pitched moan type noise) if I am running errands on a hot day and restart the car after a short time.

The A/C hasnt worked in the car since i bought it three years ago, and this is the first time i've heard it. I will get the battery tested just to see if thats the problem. But hot days with a lot of engine heat soak (from the car being off a minute) then a restart would get it, too. If its a noise that makes you close one eye (like nails on a chalkboard) and look around to make sure nobody saw you and your embarassing car noise, then it was the moose.
