So we were shooting off some bottle rockets last night (along with many other people in the hood) around 11:00pm and the crazy neighbor down the road is hiding in the trees and video taping our "illegal activity"....We went to light off some legal Minnesota picolo Pete's and he jumps out of the trees and says the cops are on their way and he doesn't appreciate all the racket. He starts running at my buddy yelling something about catching him on camera, and my friend goes on the defense a bit, tries to grab the camera from the [censored] and somehow punches the guy right below the eye and sends him to the ground. Dude manages to hold on to the camera and starts to run away, and my buddies brother, who is visiting from Utah, tackles the dude, but he he still hangs on to the camera and takes off. Cops show up about 20 minutes later with the video in hand and brings my buddy out, cuffs him and puts him in the squad...charges pending for 5th degree assault on my pal and his bro. 2 hours go by, and even though he is on camera walloping this A$$-hat in the face, he gets out on grounds the dude was trespassing and threatining. It turned out to be a crazy night. What's up with people like that?

Since even the legal stuff is pretty noisy, for this neighbor to go ballistic over noise and getting it on camera, the cops must have figured (accurately) he was a jerk. If he was upset last night, he still has more noise to live through over the next two days, so he might get still more worked up.

But punching him, tackling him and going for the camera was waaaay overboard. Your buddy and his brother did not do themselves any favors in case there is a chapter II tonight, they've used up all the slack they're going to get. A local judge would conclude there's more than one a$$hat in this story.

I'd be pissed too if people were lighting off fireworks - legal or otherwise - at 11PM in my neighborhood 2 nights before the 4th. I'm not enough of a douche to hide with a camera, but I might give the cops a call if it went on for a while.

My neighbors have been lighting fireworks at 11:00 pm since Thursday night. They must love fireworks.

I have learned to expect the fireworks and noise on holiday weekends. Some of my kin folks spend thousands of dollars of fireworks. I just see it as burning money.

me too, that's really rude. What about sleeping kids in the neighborhood but I guess since YOU were having fun it doesn't matter huh? Ever heard of the noise law MOST cities have? I wouldn't have gone out with a camera, but I would have definately called the police on ya.
Learn to have some respect for your neighbors why don't ya. It's ok to do that on the 4th of July or New Year's, it's expected, but not on the friggin 2nd and DEINFATELY not that late at night. That's just plain rude.

That's the kind of reply I "expected" from you, so I will just let it go.

Haha great story!

I don't know what is up with all these pansies calling the cops. Haven't they heard of getting off their asses and walking over and talking to them about it first? I'm sure the cops have a lot better things to do than run around tending to probably thousands of calls on firecrackers.

Maybe thats just me though. If my neighbor was pissing me off for any reason I walk over and talk to them about it rather than call the cops or better yet video tape it!

You are right, Doug. Of course I am biased a bit at this point. My best friend is a Cop in a Hennepin county suburb and he said all they have been getting is Firecracker complaints...and he said it himself, WORTHLESS!!!! The reports that they have to write and the time they waste with these types of calls is unbelievable. I'm sure they have better things to do, especially in a town where there are more redneck bars than churches and scholls put together.

Funny thing is, we live in a culdesac and all but 2 of the neighbors were out with us enjoying the nice evening...all 12 of our kids collectively slept right through!

Well, maybe I just have more respect for my neighbors. You obviously don't. Grow up
