I'm planning on doing a flush on the zetec this week. What type does everyone recommend? I've already decided I'm not going to get Super Tech do to the fact that the zetec runs somewhat hot already. Don't want to take the chance. My dad has a gallon of Peak thats been sitting on his shelf for a while. I've seen the posts about shelf life and I'm unsure if it should be used. Or is peak any good? It appears that the zetec only takes 1 gallon. Is this true?

Spend some time at www.bobistheoilguy.com and you will be mjuch better informed. You will also learn that even the experts don't agree.

My suggestion is to use Zerox GO5. It is the same as the Gold coolant that Ford is presently using on all their new cars. You whould thoroughly flush the system before installing the new fluid.

Get some of the radiator flush from Walmart and clean out the system, then add fresh coolant, Prestone works fine. You are only talking about $8 or $9 for a bottle. Also, be sure that you dilute it properly with distilled water, which is usually about $1 for a gallon. In NY, since it gets pretty chilly in the winter and hot in the summer, I run around 65 or 70% coolant to 35 or 30% water. Also in Walmart, you can pick up those little coolant testers for less than a dollar that tell you how much the coolant will protect.
