I got bored and broke out the dremal on a MAF I had kicking around. I can feel it pull a little harder now. Its also a smidge louder. Not to bad for a free mod.

There have been a bunch of people doing this over at FCO. I'm doing mine when I get a D Davis CAI.
The other thing that you might want to try is drilling out the metering tube by a 1/16th. It richens up the AF ratio a touch.

Good job Cobber! How is the idle? I limited my mods to some MAF smoothing and polishing because I read stories of unstable idles when the post was removed. I noticed some mild improvements and am considering "bigger" changes but wanted to find out about some other experiences. Is your TB optimized? This was a surprisingly nice gain. Looks good..
..so what's the deal with the horror stories and the people saying not to do it?!
Are you using a BAT type intake or do you still have the black OEM accordeon (sp?) tube?

Yea me too cause its been on my car car for about 3 days. I have had no idle changes what so ever. I felt a little more power(about as much as the CTA intake did).
I dont have the BAT pipe just the black stock one.
I really wnat to hear what Rara has to say about this.

Well I haven't tried this yet on the contour but on my 96 cobra I ported the stock MAF in a similar fashion to the pics above, cutting the post and using a die grinder on the rest. On the dyno I picked up 8rwhp from the MAF mod alone. Still not enough increase in power to feel the difference in the butt-o-meter. I've been running it for several months now with no drivability issues.
