Internet Explorer 7 beta ... anyone try it?

I find it highly ironic they have Google as the default search engine, since they seem defensive of their own products.
(One of my friends witnessed this gem, word for word:)
Quote:

From the Microsoft Hiring Rep Meeting:
Rep1: We offer many employment opportunities.
Rep2: To see more than we have listed here, just google them online.
Rep1: I think you mean they should MSN search it.

Anyway .. yeah. Seems they finally added tabs and an integrated toolbar, as well as an overall simpler and smaller interface. I'm going to give it a go and see if it's worthy for installing at work. I'm a die-hard Firefox fan now though (particularly with the user-created extensions), so it'll take quite some effort to get me to switch back on my home PC.

i have been using it off and on. My friend who works at msoft, CEG memeber who convince me to buy my 'tour, convinced me to download it. It seems to be a huge improvment over the last IE, and i havent found too many non-compatible sites yet.

It still hasnt replace firefox, but when i need to use IE this new version is a pleasure to use.

I've been running it on my laptop for work for about 1.5 months. Got through the Technet subscription I get from work. They send more software than I can actually keep up with to test out. (Still need to test out my Vista BETA Build 5308 )

There is certain things I like about IE 7 but other things I can't stand. They cut too much out of the browser to make it look more simple, but it actually makes usage for me more difficult. I like the standard toolbars and what not.

The tabbed browsing is nice but obviously a rip off of Mozilla. Of course Mozilla is becoming big so Microsoft has to stay on top by stealing yet another companies success.

The phishing website feature is awesome though. I'm not sure how well it will actually work when needed but awesome idea on there part.

I've tweaked my IE 7 to be pretty comfortable for my use, but I think the default install views are terrible. I still prefer 6 over 7.

Overall, the browser works great even as a BETA. I have yet to see it crash or do anything buggy at all. All pages load smooth and fast as they did with 6.

Tabbed browsing is actually a common feature in most every browser except IE, and Mozilla certainly didn't pioneer it (reference). However, I definitely agree that it (and the other features I mentioned, like a smaller toolbar section) was probably implemented partly due to Firefox's success though.

Yeah, I didn't word it correctly. I realize it wasn't Mozilla that started it, but I think they are the first ones to sucessfully implement it and make it known to people all around. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if Mozilla wasn't so successful with the tabbed browsing, Microsoft probably would of never picked it up as a feature for IE.

I use Opera, they recently released 9.0, it's really neat.
