I was taking a two lane long left turn onramp today on my way home from work. I wanted to pass a car to my right. It was a left turn, but nothing too crazy. I was in second gear. I floored it as I was turning left, and around 6500rpm's the oil light flickered quickly about three times. The whole thing took about two seconds, but I got very scared. I drove slow (60mph) not using more than half throttle the whole way home. I stopped at a gas station and my oil was at the max line. Exactly where it was when I had the oil changed about two to three weeks ago.

I though the oil starvation issue was only on hard right turns. The oil pickup is on the right side right? wouldnt that mean there should be plenty of oil available when turning left. What just happened to me? The car is not making any strange noises and seems to drive perfectly fine. Do I need an accusump or something?

You should have it a bit above the max line. I don't know much about the oiling issues, but I'm sure things can happen during things other than right turns. And if somehow things have gotten clogged up, well there's a problem.

If your oil level is fine and the car doesn't make any new strange noises, then relax and don't worry about it! But yes... I also put in 6.5 quarts instead of the 6 it calls for.

I put 6.5qts in it, and that leaves it right at the max line. maybe a tiny bit over.

I am totally paranoid about oil starvation. I never take right turns hard. As much as I would love an excuse for a 3L, I cant afford that till next semester.

Hi! I believe i read that the V6 holds 5.5 quarts according to the manual. But I still put 6 in there too.

revices oil level is 5.8qts, but 6-6.5 is considered a SAFEr level.

ok It did it again today. I was taking a right hand turn to get on an onramp and the light came on and off once quickly. I had downshifted into second, and wasn't flooring it, so it just went on and off once for a second. I am starting to worry. The car does not make any strange noises, and drives fine. I can take it to redline going in a straight line and have no oil light flicker at all. The only thing that I can think of that is in common during both of these occurences are that they happened under 10 minutes after start up. The first time the car was parked for six hours at work, and I had only been driving for a few minutes when the light flickered. This time I had the car parked all day at my girlfriends house, and the oil light flickered when I took the onramp a few miles from her house. Could this have something to do with wether or not the car was warmed up?

Would an accusump fix this?

I am thinking of getting an oil pressure gauge to see if I can monitor oil pressure and see what is going on.What is a safe range for oil pressure?

I have another idea. I was doing some searching, and something came up about camshaft position sensors. I had a CEL for a camshaft position sensor about a month ago. I cleared it and it never came back. Could this have something to do with it.

here is the thread I found that mentioned camshaft position sensors. Not the same issue as mine, but I guess kinda close.

Make sure your engine oil is half quart above max line. I doubt it is the CPS.
