So for the second year in a row, Upstate NY is under a state of emergency due to flooding. They're thinking that one of our levees to the downtown area has a chance of breaking and the river is still expected to rise another 5 feet. I live up on a hill luckily but our basement still has about a foot of water in it, even with 2 pumps running all night!

HAHAHA, you think that's bad? Come to Wyoming county in PA! The river is going to crest at 38 feet tomorrow, IF it stops raining here, which it's not. The destruction is insane, I work for PennDOT fixing the roads, and this is gonna take all summer just to fix the main roads. One of our main roads has 5 feet of water on it, and the river is continuing to rise. Many people are flooded out already, and more are being evacuated, I've never seen anything this bad, and everyone is comparing it to the '72 flood which was one of the most destructive in the history of PA. You wanna see bad flooding? Come on down and spend a day with me.

I feel for ya.
This weather is really out there lately.
My husband is convinced it's the sign of the apocalypse or something. lol!

I guess it's what we get for such a mild winter.
I'm glad that the rain hasn't been as bad up here as it was not too long ago, but I really feel for the people it's hitting now.

Man...send some of that rain this way. We're in a severe drought still. I think we're 10 inches below "normal". Everything outside crunches when you touch it. You sneeze and the grass catches fire. We'll pray for you, you pray for us!

Be careful what you wish for. We were having drought in '98 , then it rained 34'' in 24 hours.

Thats horrible. Happenned here thirty years ago or so, two streets away. Dad said he found pieces of the frame in the front yard. Luckily though the family was out of town.

They're saying it's the worst flooding since the early 1900's when the Susquehanna actually flowed backwards because the Chenango was so backed up!

Did you see the ABC world news? Binghampton was there, as well as Scranton, and the first picture before they actually started the report was Tunkhannock, I was waiting for them to mis-pronounce Tunkhannock like they did Susquehanna. I'm done watching all these news stories about the flooding, I just witnessed too much of it in 8 hours today anyway, and I will tomorrow, the next day, all next week, and the rest of the summer, and maybe even part of next summer. The damage is gonna take such a long time to fix, 17 hour days here I come I guess. I felt so bad looking at these towns today riding in the truck, we were surveying the damage and clearing trees and mud off the roads, but there's nothing we can really do until the water goes down, which is horrible, but all these people were giving us the evil eye because we're PennDOT and all they thought we were doing was riding around rubber-necking like everyone else.
