Just curious, has anyone here ever purchased anything from a door to door salesman? Well, I gave in yesterday, and HAD to buy this product! A 20 year old knocks on my door, was in a pretty good mood, and seemed pretty excited about the product he was selling. He got me involved, asking me questions about my house, etc. The product he was selling, is called Hy-Pro Spray Cleen. He had a bottle, a rag, some brushes and scrubbing pads. He cleaned a spot on my concrete porch, cleaned part of my awning, the aluminum threshold on my front door, and the stuff was pretty impressive. I still wasn't sold on the stuff, as I thought I had something in the house that I could do the same with. Until..... he noticed the yellow spots on the ceramic tile I laid. What it was, was "Great Stuff" that you use for sealing windows and doors. I got some of it on my tile, and couldn't get it off with ANYTHING. He was able to clean it off with one spray, and a few whipes of a towel. So I gave in, and bought one gallon of this stuff. It's a concentrate, and will fill 88-100 spray bottles. The cost came to just under $75 after tax. This stuff will clean carpet, ink stains, glass, tires, almost ANYTHING! You get the gallon of the cleaner, a spray bottle, 2 different scrubbing pads, and 2 different brushes. So, does anyone want to make me feel "okay" about my purchase, and tell me if/what you bought from a door to door salesman? Mark

I'm cheap as hell, so I turn those poor kiddos away constantly. It's always just magazines and candy anyway.
I think if he got your stubborn stain out, then you made a good purchase.

Not everything sold door-to-door is crap. For a short period of time, I sold Kirby vaccuums door-to-door. And anyone that's ever owned one knows it will still be working clear up to the second coming! If it works for you and lasts for ages (and I would think 1 gallon would), then sweet!
You should keep a running log on here of what it will and will not clean.

Oh wow. Almost makes me want to take a little side trip to the address listed, next time I'm in Dallas.

I read that whole article (which is unusual), then I see "Satellite Beach, Fla." at the bottom. That's my tiny little town! Wherever they are, it can't be more than a mile from where I now sit on my couch. Weird.
Edit: Of course, that article is dated 6 May 99, so things might have changed since then.

My wife purchased a similar cleaning product from a door-to-door kid. They came in and cleaned a few spots on our carpet and what not. I think she paid like $45 for a liter concentrate. It works darn good I'd have to say, however we are alreaty out of it. I hate having people come to my door selling things even if they are not crap. The point is if I wanted to buy any of their amazing products, I'd find them. The one's that absolutely get under my skin are the magazine seller's. They are always some kid that has some sad story about how they are trying to turn their life around, or are working on their public speaking or whatever and need to get some more points to get a trip to cancun or camp or whatever by selling magazines. Some of them are really smooth and try and trick you into buying them even after you tell them your not interested. I usually end up telling them that I am illiterate. One went as far as telling me that I should buy them to look at the pics! I'm fine with legit kids selling girlscout cookies or school related things, but not the ones out to pressure you into buying crap. If I wanted that I would go to a used car lot!

had some kid try to sell me mags a few weeks ago while i was washing my car started off talking like he just moved into the neighborhood. then whipped out some laminated sheets with info on them about a fundraiser. and when i asked how donations are made... well...you just buy some of these magazines! and when i told him i already had enough magazine subscriptions he came back with "you could still buy some and you can donate them to a chruch or somehting!"
fugg off buddy..i wanted to spray him with the hose!

lol, oh well! Most people going into door to door sales are as gullible as it gets. I'll see how well this stuff works when I use it, and I'll keep you all posted.
And talking to the kid, he said he makes $20 on a gallon sold. He had only made one sale before me, and he came to my door at 6:00pm.
