I want to get everybody's take on this and see how they would have handled it. I am pulling out of a parking lot and waiting at the light to turn left after getting some ice cream with my girl. A car pulls up on my left in the other turn lane with 4 younger age guys in it. They all have their windows down and are looking back at me saying something. I roll down my window figuring they want to ask a question or something about the car and one of them mumbles some [censored]. The guy in the front passenger seat says "just ignore him, he's drunk". Mind you it's 8:30 on a Tues. night and these guys are no older than 18-19. Anyways I roll up my window and wait for the light. I look over one last time before it changes and one of the dudes spits on my car! First intuition is turn off the car, pull them out one by one and beat the [censored] out of them, but I feel I made a more mature and decision and just pulled away. Is it worth getting completely bent out of shape or even thrown in jail over something as stupid and immature as that? I mean I love my car and all but some things in life to me just aren't worth the impending consequences that will follow. If he would have spit on me or my girl the situation would have ended a lot differently and I would be writing from my cell, but how would you have reacted in this situation?

Bad side of me would have spit on him,
The good (also the right decision) side would have done the same thing, just ignore it and drive away and clean the crap up ASAP.
If he was drunk he didnt know better, he just did what he thought. Cant do much about it except look back and think you did the right thing.

4 on 1, I would have chickened out on starting a fight. I would have done the next best thing, and followed their sorry asses. Then, if they didn't head home so I could tell the little bastard ass's Mommy what her kid did to my car, I'd call the cops. Report the little pricks, and let them deal with it. Or, I would have waited until the perfect opportunity, and threw ANYTHING I had in my car through their window, and sped the hell off. Channel locks, full cup of Pepsi, a sharp pen... Anything that can do some damage. Mark

You did the right thing. Having your girlfriend bail you out from jail can't be a good thing.

First of all.. no need to tell everyone you're with a girl... you're a grown man.. you don't need an excuse to buy 2 ice cream cones.
Second of all... I would have stopped my car and gotten out if only to scare the little bastards.

Ya know, now that I think about it again Mike, you're a big dude. If I were you, or Barge ofcourse, I'd get out and scare the virginity out of those kids.

Couldda just followed them (at a distance) and called the cops. Then you don't worry about getting yourself in trouble and drunk kid that hasn't had proper home training gets in trouble. Win win. I don't know what I'd do. It also depends on what car I'm driving as to what I'd do. If I was in my zetec, I'd let it go, if I was in my svt, I'd have to size up the situation and decide, if I was in the escort, I'd jump in front of them and slam on the brakes (it needs some body work/paint job).

96 ATX Zetec (i brake to watch you swerve)
FS: SVT rear sway bar
WTB: Very cheap beater

I so wished that all those times I thought about becoming a cop, I had. It would have been great to get out of my car, flash my badge, politely ask them to exit the vehicle and put their hands on the trunk. Then watching them all piss themselves when they realized what had just happened! Ohh well. Thanks for letting me know I did the "right" thing.

The way things are these days the little [censored] could have had knives or guns. It just wasn't worth endangering my life over something so petty to me.

You handled that better than I would have, but lately I don't appreciate this aging heap of purple pimpness. A guy once flicked his cigarette at my car. Me being 160 pounds soaking wet, what am I gonna do to him? I just played games with him until he grew tired of it and performed the ricer flyby. Best I could do to get him back on the Thruway. :shrugs:
