Lately, since the summer heat is here my coolant has been boiling over into the expansion tank and out onto the ground.I have searched and have found some help but not specific to my problem.I'm thinking it is my t-statbut not sure?it seems like every day or two I have to put in more coolant because it keeps spilling out of the expansion tank. What could the problem be? I plan on doing a radiator flush soon and was thinking about changing the t-stat.Could this be the problem? any help is appreciated! thanxs
Yes, the thermostat is a suspect, and the waterpump. Is the engine overheating? Check the 2 cooling fans are running nice and strongly (watch out for your fingers). They should run with the a/c on or the engine temp at M on normal scale.
The engine isn't overheating to the point of me stopping on the side of the road. When the needle starts to lean to the hot side I hear the fans kick on and it begins to cool down. The only time it boils over is when i have been driving for a good bit,go to shut off my car and bam the next thing I know coolant is everywhere on the ground.
**I check the Heater and the fans all seems to be working well right now.So would it be the t-stat staying close and shooting all the hot (boiling) coolant into my reseviour?
Well my coolant boiled over twice today again! and its runny on Hot the whole time. This problem is getting to be annoying! I checked the fans and they come on as they should. The coolant keeps running into my overfill resiviour(sp)anybody else that can help on this situation would be greatly apprecaited. The only thing I haven't tried was changing out the t-stat.Does anybody have a write up on how to do that>?
