OP jungloford New CEG\'er J Joined: May 2005 Posts: 23	I want to purchase volvo s40 used from washington and bring to B.C. How difficult is this and what taxes/duties are involved. Anyone import from states to Canada an "import" vehicle?

OldSkool Member New CEG\'er O Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 34 Winnipeg MB Canada	First things first, go to www.riv.ca, that site explains everythign about importing a vehicle into canada, as well as whether it can or can not be done. They have a list of all importable vehicles. Also you will be paying 6% (july 1) tax on the purchase price of the vehicle, as well as a duty fee if the vehicle was made outside of US/CAN/MEX. There is also a $150 excise tax if the vehicle has A/C. Then you have to get a national safety done on the vehicle at your nearest canadian tire.
