My car had a transmission put in around 9,000 miles ago and is leaking already around the rear main seal on the tranny. What could possibly be the cause besides just a bad seal and is there anything else i need to do while i'm in there. the tranny only has 48,000 miles on it.

Cause? Age. Trans has nothing to do with it.

yeah but everything was resealed when it was put in. It should have lasted a little bit longer.

Everything was resealed? You know what a main seal is right? It's a gasket the goes around the crank on the engine. This isn't part of the trasmission or how it bolts to the engine.
Don't forget this.

It's possible that there is no sealant around where the slave cylinder sits. If you do not put sealant on the mating surface of where the slave cylinder sits on the tranny case, tranny fluid can leak out around the input shaft.

There are three different fluids involved here, which is leaking?
1) Engine Oil (rear main seal) 2) Transmission Fluid (input shaft seal) 3) Brake Fluid (slave cylinder)
Answer that and you will know what the problem is.

THANK YOU! Finally someone has asked the question that came to my mind. What was actually leaking?

Thanks for the input guys. Thats what is irritating me. The leak is from the input shaft seal atleast that is what the ford dealership said. I also have a receit of where that seal was supposedly replaced along with tranny instal and new clutch. Now they want over a thousand dollars to replace the seal again. So i've got a guy thats going to do it for a fraction of the cost, and he worked with ford for 18 years . Wish I had a lift so i could do it myself. I have everything but that.

As I said before. Don't forget the anaerobic gasket maker. Same goes for the throw out bearing which appears to be your cause. Sounds like someone didn't seal it properly or used the wrong sealant.
