All I can say from having a dad work for chater.... SBC yahoo DSL is the way to go.

that's funny
as far as dsl goes...it still doesn't compare in speed and reliability to cable. Yes, it depends alot on what area you're in. Around here, i've had nothing but headaches with DSL...Quite often you get told it will work where you are, only to find after repeated service calls and tech support calls that they made a mistake and apologise.
However, i can't wait for verizon's fios to be available in my neighborhood. Even their cheapest package is faster up and down than cable.

That's a little "insider info" that I'm sure the executives of those 2 companies as well as the shareholders would sure like to find out about, since they are most definitely NOT the same company. They're about as close to being "the same company" as Microsoft and Apple are. They're fierce rivals in any region they compete in.
Comcast has been around for ages, Charter is a relative newcomer and owned primarily by Paul Allen, the guy from Microsoft, who has said that he might just buy the rest of the stock and take the company private. Comcast is doing alright, Charter is in dire financial straits and burning through money like it's going out of style.
You must be confusing either AT&T Broadband/Comcast which are one in the same now, or AT&T/SBC which are one in the same now. Because it certainly ain't Charter/Comcast. A quick look at their respective stock charts (CHTR & CMCSA) makes their differences VERY clear.

I've had great luck with my Comcast internet, not before, but now it's great. Same with TV and phone. I like Comcast It's great having a Dual Tuner DVR Box with OnDemand

I had SBC DSL for over a year and all I can say is that the DSL stands for what they can do for me. I'll NEVER go back to them.

Thank you, this made my day. Ive had comcast for quite a long time. and its been SLOW FOREVER. I NEVER get above the advertised "DSL high" numbers they say they beat in their commercials. On top of all that, My internet cuts out about every 15-20 minutes. Try playing halo 2 like that.

Charter using Comcast's lines does NOT mean they're the same company.
We've got RCN around here as a competitor against Comcast, and I wouldn't go to Comcrap if my life depended on it. I've heard NOTHING but complaints from everyone I know of on Comcast around here. And the V'zon DSL here SUCKS, at least for residential. It's out far more often than not. I've yet to have an outage here in the last two months at our house, and had maybe a handful of outages in the apartment we rented before.

Wow. Sounds like you guys are getting shafted. I've had comcast high speed for 6+ years now. I get 700k/s + download on bit torrent quite frequently... never had any problems with slow speeds to dropped service.

i've got their triple package. digital cable, phone service, and internet. all of them work flawlessly. i recently (2 months ago) upgraded the internet to their highest available in my area. 8/765 ~Andrew
