Well i was on my way to work.. i was going about 75mph in 5th gear.. and out of No were my car bogges.. and the rpms wont stay up.. it sounded bad..

it would ilde at 250 or less and just die, it wont stay running.

has no power.


I had to have it towed..

any idea whats it could be??

fuel pump?

No cel either.. Im stumpped.

sounds like a fuel problem. change the filter first, then try the pump.

Sounds like the same symptoms as when my dad's cabriolet jumped timing. But very well could be fuel starvation.

well today at ford a tech did a fuel test.. its getting fuel. i changed the fuel filter last week. its new, uhmm he did a vacuum leak check i passed that.. i have No idea..


He unplugged the maf and it started to run a little better.

Did the tech check the coil pack/ignition wires? Bad wiring grounds can mess up your idle or stop the engine, and so can a bad battery (see if the alternator charges properly too.)

When my car died it was a bad ground (no CEL either).

Mine ('98 EO SVT) was the ground wire near the fuse box on the drivers side. Check to see if it's broken or the connection needs to be cleaned. Check the main ground that bolts from the battery to the motor. There is also a ground near the passenger side fire wall by the ECU.

Let us know what you find out.

It starts up for a min.. sounds really crappy. and dies



wont stay running... if u unplug the maf it stays running but idleing really high....

it was raining out side... if water hit the coil pack is that bad?

Try not to let water get all over your sensors and connectors.

If it idles with the MAF unplugged, I would clean the MAF first. What air filter do you have? If you have a K&N, you might of put too much oil on the filter and contaminated the sensor.

its not a k&n filter. but it is pretty new...

ill clean up the maf tomorrow its at work...

what should i use???? to clean it with??

if it still runs bad after... is there anything else u think it could be?
