DOes the brand of O2 sensor really matter? I am usually one to put in the best where it counts, but saving a few bucks is always nice. I replaced my downstream O2 with a bosch unit(I am looking for an upstream O2 now), but I know NGK makes pretty quality stuff and the motorcraft lists as the cheapest on carparts.com. SO does any body have any insight as to what is the way to go here?

There just isn't that many companies making oxygen sensors. Pretty much they all work about as well as long as the application is correct. I would shop around for price just as you are doing.

what I really want to know is: does reputable brand + higher price = better quality. And also, when in relation to O2 sensors, does better quality = more performance or better durability or both.

In my opinion, no. There really isn't that much difference from one brand to another on oxygen sensors.

I replaced my US sensor not too long ago with a Bosch unit. Working fine so far...the fit and finsih was exactly the same as the stock piece. Cost was about $65 at CrapBoys...I still have the box if you need the P/N.
