I will be replacing the stock air filter box for a higher flowing air filter with a heatshield. Below is a picture I took, can someone please tell me what the heck the circled thing in my picture is and it's purpose, and what the heck do i do with it once i pull it out of the air box, and where i can relocated it for it to serve its function. I'll be getting a getto Ractive filter, how do i go about cleaning this, or is it simply a throw-away-after-x-period-of-time brand of filter. Thanks in advance Ceg'rs.

Intake Air Temperature sensor. You need to fabricate something to stick it in the intake airflow.
The PCM uses the IAT sensor and the MAF sensor to determine the correct air/fuel ratio.

Speaking of the worlds fastest response...lol...Thanks. But when your say "fabricate something to stick it in the intake airflow" in with you 62.64% then I loose all competence. Hm.

LOL. I think someone will very soon post, "just cut a hole and stick it in the open air K&N filter you are about to buy". You do need the IAT near where the air is going in. Can't just let it sitting out there loose as the engine will not run smooth. The air in the engine bay is way hotter than the "cold" air going in to the engine.

Oh no! It might go away when you put in the new air filter mod.

Oh man, I shall thoroughly reconsider all my options in that case, maybe simply a good cleaning of all the sensors and moosing on for life is a good alternative. Not 100% Sure yet. But hey, thanks Tony for the help buddy, I dont even get responses on msn or yahoo messenger as quickly as you provided them here. Thanks again!~
