Another Escort question for y'all so thanks in advance.
Looking to remove and clean the throttle body on a 94 Ecort 1.9 liter but have read and heard that most cleaners will damage the finsih inside Ford throttle bodies. What do y'all use/suggest.
Thanks

the coating that is suppose to prevent buildup on the throttle body plate? I think most just don't worry about it, they do sell throttle body cleaner that might be safe to use but I am not sure off hand

Well since it needs cleaning because of the build up on it then i say that coating didn't do its job. So who needs it

What is so special about the finish on Ford Throttle bodies? I used Berryman's on mine( ), and have had no issues from it. Did I do something bad?

good point onthe coating not doing its job. I guess at 130k miles, if Ihave to do this again in 60k miles instead of 130, I'll be okay.
Thanks

Berryman's B12.
Let the engine 'sip' one can (of Berryman's) thru' a vacuum line and, when the can is almost empty, let it glug it so that the engine DOES conk out.
Then let the car sit 'with this glomp of B12' IN the engine, UIM area, etc.) for at least an hour -- or better ...overnight.
Then (the next morning) start the car. The B12 -- given enough time -- turns carbon into a sort of 'powder' (which is why you let it sit overnight!) ...and this then is easily dissipated out the exhaust. Net result -- your UIM etc. is clear of carbon.
For 'continual' protection -- put a can of either Seafoam or B12 in the gas tank 'every other fillup'.
For super duper anti-carbon-protection -- use Lucas 'gas additive' (in translucent plastic bottles).

I can just imagine how this affects the Pre cats and main cat.
