I finally hooked up my air intake today and I looking for a heat shield to buy or make. I am about 90% for shore that I am going to make my own out of plastic. The other 10% is leaning toward the bling factor like the injen heat shield. I was wondering what you guys think about the one they offer on the SP Motorsport website? I like the look of it more then anything else.

In my opinion, I don't think that one blocks off the heat that will be coming from the motor. There needs to be a complete "wall" between the engine and the filter for it to do any good. The heat will just wrap around to the open side of the injen.
FWIW, most folks make one out of a plastic trashcan, IIRC. I'll be trying to make one once school lets out for the summer!

Venn diagram time. The populations of those heatshields that look good and those heatshields that work well don't overlap so significantly. The ones that work well AND look good are typically the result of someone doing a top notch do it yourself project. There is not a mass produced unit for sale that fits our cars and looks great and works. Do you prefer something that looks ghetto but actually works; or something that's pretty but non-functional?

How hot does it get in your area in July and August?

As a math teacher, +2 bonus points for using "Venn Diagram" in a sentence, and +2 more for using it as a reference in a Contour thread!
