How can I test the temperature gauge itself? Is the coolant temperature sensor and the coolant temperature sending unit the same thing? Could the coolant temperature sensor be causing the temperature gauge not to work? Thanks.

they are not the same sensor/sending unit. they are however both located in the thermostate housing. the one for the gauge is more on the bottom. ive been told that its easiest to reach if you just remove the housing. i need to replace mine too as my gauge doesnt work either. im going to go to ford tomarrow to try to figure out price and a part number.
