I put my speed bleeders in yesterday, front and rear, and then flushed all the old black brake fluid out an ran some synthetic(Havoline?)thru it.
I wasnt expecting to feel this much of a difference!I did think my brakes were begining to fade a little, thought I needed new pads. But now,NOW these breaks have a new life to them.Maybe the old fluid was spent or just the synthetic stuff is really good.....
The Speed Bleeders made the job so simple too, just connect a small piece of hose and pump untill the new fluid flows thru....repeat four times(each wheel).Took all of an hour or less.Plus I did it in the rain!If your married and have kids, they went to the mall,so you understand the time by myself thing..never happens. This is why I did it in the rain, that and I had already started and wanted to finish.
Sooooo anyway if you havent flushed your brakes lately here is your incentive.I have only 33K on my 98 and it made a heck of a difference! eek

I bled the Brake System and used Super Blue Racing Brake Fluid for it's Dry and Wet boiling point levels. Wet <536 deg.F>, Dry <392 deg.F>

The difference is uncanny! In our last Open Track Event at our local Road Course I had 0 Brake Frade, I was simply amazed. That's with the stock pads, rotors and brake lines. Our previous meet with the Ford Dot3 it didn't hold up for to long before I could barely stop at the end of the straight away!!! Our Next Event I'll have EBC pads (?) and Steel Brake Lines. wink

You guys have me excited, just took mine into today to get the brake system flushed and add the ATE super blue shizzo. . .i hope Meineke does it right this time, last time they installed rear pads for me, they forgot the caliper screw, and the whole thing disassembled under a hard breaking emergency stop. Needless to say, this is the last thing they'll ever do on my car. . .

OK, let me get this straight. You hope Meineke does it right this time, because last time the completely screwed up something simple and you are never going back again? Then why are they the ones doing the brake flush? Or am I missing something?

Added speed bleeders & flushed my brakes too. It made a huge difference in fade & pedal feel.

Oh yeah. I added SS lines & new Pads too. Silly me... laugh

I highly recommend flushing your brakes every 2-3yrs.

I used Valvoline Synpower; great stuff. The Ford Super Blue is great as well.

I just picked up some new cross drilled/slotted and silver plated rotors from SP motorsports and I got some of that Super Blue racing fluid with speed bleeders. I can't wait to get them installed. The rotors I have now make my car fee like it is going to fall apart during hard braking and I just had them turned a few months ago.

What's the part number for the speed bleeders?
Front & Rear? I heard that there was a model change between the years... i have a '99SVT.
Where did you all order it from? Can I get them at the local Pep-Boys?
Thanks.

The link to Speed Bleeder is in my first post above.
Yes I think they did do a model change somewhere....do a search in the brakes forum, lots of speed bleeder posts there.
For 98 its SB1010 front and SB1010S for the rear. The "S" is for short. wink

PAL3SVT,
You're right, they screwed it up last time, that's why they're fixing what they screwed for FREE. Otherwise, there's no way in HELL you could drag me back there.

quick question for you guys that have done a full fluid flush recently, how much fluid did it take you? I'm doing mine tonight and gotta pick up some fluid on the way home.

It's all about balance.
