Ive been having trouble shifting in all gears when taking off in the morning. However, shortly after a few miles it shifts in all gears smoothly. Is it that it needs more trans fluids? Trans problem? I had a new spec clutch installed in my car a year ago.

I'd suggest changing the MTX fluid and installing the newer Ford Synthetic stuff or the Royal Purple that meets the new Ford Spec.

It sounds more like a clutch problem. I suspect some air in the hydraulic system and suggest bleeding to clear out the air.

Usually a fluid related problem shows up more in cold weather, and since the weather is warming up I think this is less likely. If you have the factory fill in it, or if you have straight Mercon you would benefit from an upgrade in fluid, something with a bit more friction modifier in it. The least expensive fluid with a higher level of friction modifier in it is ATF+3 (which works very well). The premium answer is Ford Honey (preferably with a little Ford friction modifier added), Torco, Royal Purple, or Specialty Formulations.

I have recently drained and filled my tranny with ford's synthetic honey. Works pretty good in temps above 50F.Have not used in the winter yet. I still have to work it on a few shifts when its cooler out. When you say ford's honey with a little FM how much is a little FM 2-3 ounces? Also any specific FM to mix with the ford honey preferalby a synthetic?

Two oz (half a bottle) of Ford Friction Modifier, XL-3. For a while, Ford also marketed XL-7 which is supposted to be better for synthetic, but it is no longer available. You might find a dealer that has some left over though.

I have friction modifier in mine. I did not try honey without the friction modifier because it seemed to be the preferred way when I installed the honey. I did drive a 2000 SVT that came with honey. I don't know if it had friction modifier in the stuff that was drained or not. The refill did include friction modifier with honey and it did shift better than before the change.

The last thing on this topic I heard from Terry Haines was that the friction modifier should be used on an "as needed" basis.
