1.)im about to take off the head on the contour, should i just flush out the heater core too just incase? or remove it and check it out to make sure its okay.

2.)also do i need to remove the valve tappets if i am going to remove the head? are they going to stay in if i flip teh head over to clean it?

no one knows this real quick?

Valve tappets? Are you refering to the lifters or something else? I pulled the lifters when I replaced my head gasket, and organized them so I put them in the same way they came out.
