After seeing my dyno on Silvie, I know I need to add a little fuel here, trim a little there. It wasn't a bad run by any means at 179HP/178 TQ, but it fell off a bit on the top end just before redline. I *could* get rid of this by using a custom trimmed chip, but would rather make the corrections myself. Apexi doesn't do it for me since I want waaaaaay more than 8 points to adjust.

There are full control stand alone units, which would kick some butt, but they are expensive and don't really out do the stock ECU for adjustability if I had control of the Ford ECU with a true programmer.

I'd settle for the E-manage, but for the price I'd rather have the EEC-tuner or the Tweecer (SP?) that have units out for the Mustangs/etc. I know people have hinted in the past about working with such things privately, I'm just wondering how close we are before I go spend some cash on something a month before something really kick ass comes out...

What could be a better test mule than a 3 liter running 24# injectors on a stock SE ECU??? A 3 liter SC SVT, perhaps Ricky, perhaps... laugh Any hints or PM's appreciated. wink

i just read that aem released a standalone engine management system that was plug and play. car audio&electronics tested it and was very pleased w/ the tuning. they got some quick hp just fiddling w/ it, not even a detailed tuning. i have no idea if there's any application for the contour. it was very expensive though.

and someone just installed the shm MAFterburner

brad, side question. have u started up the hvac white panels again?

...and yes, I did SEARCH first before asking.

What about Haltech? :)The fellas are still working on the Tuner for the 94-95 SC TBirds that use EEC V. They have been working on that one for going on 2 years now. EEC V is one hard nut to crack! I dont know how long these guy's have been working on the Contour EEC V but you can bet it will take at least as long as the TBird guy's, and there still not ready. smile

That all depends on who they have working on it. Knowing that we have peeps inside Ford, I would hope we'd be above the '95 birds already. The stand alone units are not on my options list, the MAFterburner and Apexi barely do squat compared to what the factory ECU can do with a full programmer. The EEC-V has been cracked for the new Mustangs already, so the base knowledge is there. We just need some help getting all of the fields changed from code so we can read more than just a hex display and blindly change parameters. Lot's of trial and error unless someone knows the code and what each field represents. In the time people have been working on it (about a year or so IIRC), I just wanted a hint as to how close we are before "wasting" my money on something considered the lesser of a performance value.

Brad,

I have the SHM MAFterburner.

I was at SpringZing, the red SE with the loud exhaust. I would have showed it to ya if you had asked. It does 400rpm spacing a/f ratio adjustment from 400rpm to 10k rpm.

SHM will release a spark controller in 6 months. All laptop programmable.

I am very happy with it.
