laugh No loss in torque, very happy with this mod. It is NOTHING like pinning the secondaries, pinning the secondaries will not give you any clue as to what the car will ride with the seconday plates removed. I pinned my secondaries the week before and didn;t like the results. So just hearing from a number of guys who liked the removal of the plates I decided what the hell and I'm very glad I did!! wink The only opinion as to why the car drives different from pinning to removing I think has a lot to do with the IMRC. I believe whoever said the IMRC controls timimg is very accurate. With the secondaries pinned the timing didn't seem to be right on my svt but it seem just perfect (from a power feel standpoint) with the IMRC attach and the plates removed. Anyways I thought people might want to hear another testimony.

So you removed the rods as well, or just the butterflies?

Then you didn't do anything but pin them!

Think about it a minute...

The rods are still in causing turbulence and taking up surface area.
The point of this mod is to remove the turbulence and get more surface area.

BTW - It's the IMRC tripped (always open) that the PCM sees and this is why it ramps up timing early.

No, It's not the same as pinning them. The IMRC reactes different pinning to removing AND there is less surface area (considerably less) without the butterflys than with. High end is very noticable, low is better but not as good as the high end.

It's all BS until I see dyno proven results for something like this...does anyone have REAL proven numbers?

Explain to me why it's not the same?

When the secondary plates are attached to the rod and the secondaries are open. They are straight up. Therefore their frontal surface area is equal to just the rods, because the rods are larger in diameter.

The turbulence & surface area loss from the rod would be the same or very close. One could even argue that the much thinner plate being first helps split the air better (less turbulent) then hitting just the rod itself wink

You would gain a little area from removing the screws though.

By the way...
Are you running with a CEL?

DemonSVT,

I cant see how having the plates vertical in the airflow creates the same turbulance and obstruction as to not having the plates there and just the bar.

Im going to wait to do this mod until I can get a second 2000+ LIM and take the rods and plates out, but leave the spring mechanism in place for the IMRC cable to connect to. I will install the LIM and see how the car drives. If I like it and if my car tests stronger on the dyno and faster at the track, then I will keep it on.
