I will get my car back from the speed shop with the new Quaife, CenterForce Clutch, and ES urethane motor mount. Needless to say, I am excited. My fiance' and I will be driving to Las Vegas Friday morning and I want to drive, but i am not sure how the "break-in"period works, or if there is even a "break-in" period at all.
So the short question is: Do I have to break my Quaife and Clutch in easily or is a long road trip (5 hr drive) bad (or good)???

4-500 mile on Dextron III + friction mod.Change oil then to synth or dino + friction mod...

Don't ride the clutch, gear brake or accelerate aggressively for 500 miles.

Does that mean that I shouldn't drive (400 miles) in that short a period of time? I don't want to spend 2 G's on my car and them have it be FUBAR in a matter of days. I appreciate all of your answers to my "High Maintenence" questions. It would have been less work to fly out here and install it yourself, as Chris had suggested...

Thanks Stazi! It will be hard not to jump on it, but I will try.  From what I hear, it should be a wholly different car, with all of this new S H I T, right? I have some high expectations. Do many CEGrs have Quaifes installed? How about the CenterForce Clutch? I am just wondering just how commonplace these mods are.

My Mystique is in the process of having an SVT flywheel, Centerforce clutch, and synthetic tranny fluid installed. According to Centerforce the break in period is 450-500 miles and during that time you should not drive aggresively. Normal driving is fine though. It's going to be hard to not push it and see what the new mods do, but I will resist temptation. I can't wait to see what kind of difference it makes.

Welcome to the Quaife club! I put in a slightly used SVT clutch and flywheel along with my Quaife. Aftermarket clutches were an unknown quantity at the time (Oct 2000). -Lance

I just got it back from the speed shop and I am quite impressed. I feel the difference in the corners. The clutch seems much more "Grabby" but I haven't side stepped it, yet. I can't wait until I can utilize the mods... I will drive to Vegas and back over the weekend to visit family. When I return, it will be broken in just fine. Off to the Dyno and to the track I go! I drive to San Diego in a few weeks and I already am excited for that trip.

Remember highway driving 500 miles does not constute breaking the clutch in. You should be shifting not turning the cruise on.
