For the past few months, I have been unable to access my google earth, some message shows up regarding my graphics card. Pretty much when i start google earth up, its loading, gets to the screen, then suddenly this blue screen appears stating a serious problem and then the computer automatically restarts. Upon restart the computer states somthing wrong with my ATi graphics card which is why the computer crashes. I downloaded all the newest drivers and software update from ATi but still nothing. Uninstalled and re-installed google earth and the same thing, what now?

Probably an ATI driver/hardware problem rather than Google Earth. But not really sure. From my experience, ATI doesnt have the most reliable drivers

You are probably just noticing it with G.E. because it is so graphics intensive. I wonder if you ran another program that was so taxing on your card if the same thing would happen.

What are the specs on your ATI card?

I'm buying a nVidia 7800 GS so I can play Battlefield 2 on my computer.

try those links in the google earth menu, "set google earth to open gl mode" and "directx mode" try one, then try google earth, then try the other. probably won't help but it's worth a shot.

also, i think there's some unofficial ati drivers written by overclockers, you might try installing those... installing unoffical drivers is kind of sketchy though, could muck up your computer pretty good.

now officially a troll, i guess. used to have a black 96 SE, until it broke down one too many times. now I'm hunting for a motorycle.

I've had 2 ati cards, an old PCI all in wonder and a new x800 xt all in wonder and both have been a PITA for driver updates. Did you actually fully uninstall the old drivers before loading new ones? I've found that's it not enough to just switch to a basic vga driver and then load new ones, you actually have to do the uninstall or the new load will likely be messed up.

I had a problem with my new card and video capture - I forget which program it was (pinnacle studio maybe?) but every time I exited the program it would crash my PC and 50% time report a HW problem at reboot. I reloaded the drivers then reloaded the app and all was good.
