check your mega fuse, and wiring between the alternator and battery, alternator and ground, and battery and ground.
check battery voltage too engine off, headlights on for 60 seconds across terminals 12 volts or more
engine running 13.5-14.3 volts

Read the alternator removal how-to in the Duratec maintenance FAQ in its entireity... you'll need to be familiar with the procedure anyway, and it will show you the location of the fuse.

I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree, but I'm also not the dimmest.
It took me about 10 hours to do it the first time. I could probably do it in 5 this time. Follow the how-to. The book says to take off the exhaust ypipe, which would have made getting at the bolts easier than between the block and the firewall, but my fasteners were rusted to hell. So removal of y-pipe wasn't going to happen. Get at the top bolt from the top of the engine - it's easier, just make sure you have lots of extensions.
The book also recommends removing the drive-axle. I did this and found that I valued the extra space.
Good luck - it's a pain in the arse to remove.
Like EVERYTHING on this engine.

just make sure you have a new battery or a fully charged battery. im on my 4th battery and alternator. the parts stores gave me the wrong battery 3 times. also for some reason in my car if i pull the fuse under the hood that is for the foglight my battery wont charge. i had a problem with my foglights not staying off so i pulled the fuse for the fog lights under the hood. a few minutes later my battery was dead. i put the fuse back on gave it a jump and back to normal i also had to pull the fuse whenever i parked. the foglight problem went away on its own but in return my dash lighst tend to go out on hard bumps i think i need a new headlightlight knob\swith. unless it has somehtign to do with the foglight mod. i thik i might check it today.

Yep, i don't know if its just 98s or all the way from 95-00, but i found the same thing. One of the wires from the 3 wire plug that goes to the regulator is fed off of the fog lamp circuit, but the owners manual makes no mention of this...its only in the service CD.
