is there a way to test the switch and or motor/relay for the sunroof?

Is there a way to get the glass down? I know some imports have a hand crank just for when this happens.

You mentioned switch and motor. Is it not working or is the gear stripped? If not working at all, check the fuse first. If the gear is stripped, purchase from www.odometergears.com

Is it fused with the door windows? If so the fuse is ok. If not which fuse is it? The motor does not work at all.

Sorry, it is actually a relay in the roof console. You should also test if the switch is working.

From 1996 Ford CD Manual

Monroof Relay
Removal and Installation

1. Note: When the battery is disconnected or reconnected, some abnormal driving symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module (PCM) relearns its strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 18 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.

Disconnect battery ground cable.

2. Remove roof console.

3. Disconnect wiring harness to sliding roof panel relay.

4. Release clip and slide sliding roof panel relay off from mounting bracket. Remove sliding roof panel relay.

5. To install, reverse Removal procedure.

I took the motor out yesterday before work and checked the gears. All looked fine. When i put the motor back, it works. Could there been something jamming the gears?

Maybe it was loose or maybe it is about to get worn out.
