Hey guys (and gals) just got my brand new 60gig black video ipod and am in the process of ripping cds and adding them to my library. I wanted to know if it's possible to do the same for movie dvds I have. Can I just pop them in, rip them, and put them on my ipod? I assume I can, but still have plenty of audio cds to do first.

Thanks for the help!

Just curious, what operating system do you have? Mac or Windows (or Linux).

If you have windows, I'd use realplayer to upload songs into your ipod. I had an issue with itunes awhile back, something about not reconizing quicktime components. Anyway, switching is real easy but don't worry about it now, it will take awhile until your computer belches.

If you have a mac, I just wasted a post.

I have windows. I'm not having luck with the dvds.
I put "Shrek" in the drive yesterday and opened up the Magicbit Ipod converter and couldn't figure out what/how to put it on my ipod. Any suggestions?

i can't get vids to transfer from Real to the iPod. They don't show up on the handheld for some reason. i was told i need QT Pro to convert all the movie files and then upload them. I'd like to clip some F1 footage from my TiVo and hold it on the iPod.

Just use torrents to DL all the movies you want in Hi-def, then use Videora Ipod converter to change them into the Ipod format MP4 or something..

And bam, works.

Also, DO NOT GET THE FIRMWARE UPDATE, it bugs the Ipod making it impossible to watch videoes cause it pauses every 30 seconds and continues with no sound.

Downloading movies is working fine now. I bought an RCA output chord that connects from the ear phone spot to rca inputs and plays my movies on the tv. The sound is very soft and I have to turn the IPOD and TV and surround sound up really high for decent sound. Is the sound quality just lost through the download? Or is MPEG4 just not a good format or something? If anyone knows anythign about this I'd really appreciate hearing some advice.
