I have the KKM setup and contacted John Miks (at jcaimhigher@hotmail.com or @ixpres.com) about a custom heat shield because I didn't trust my own personal devices at making one and didn't have the time to rifle through countless stores finding the right materials. For a nominal price, John designed a great heat shield that fit perfectly, installed in no time, and best of all, produced noticeable results. I haven't dynoed with and without the shield to back it up, but he has, and if you're interested, contact him for the numbers. But living in Houston, my black contique heats up in the parking lot, so when I get the engine going, it's a pizza oven in there. The throttle response is as crisp as it is with the KKM in the winter, and the shield greatly minimizes the power lag otherwise experienced with the KKM at lower speeds (40mph or less).
