The Skyline GT-R will be almost $80,000. It's not a competitor to anyone buying a Camaro, Challenger, or Mustang. The Hyundai perhaps could be, but it's much more of a challenger to the Z and RX than the American muscle.

anyone who buys a car expecting it to be an investment is an idiot. Period. There are much better ways to invest money. Land is the best one right now. My mom bought a lake place 4 years ago for $120,000 cash and now she can sell it for $230,000. Over 100% profit in 4 years. Anyone who can afford it better buy something (good) up right now before interest rates go up more.

And besides, wait a couple years for a used Shellby to come up and nab it for 1/2 the price.

If you think of it like that, yeah. Unfortunately, the Z and the RX-8 don't have rumbly V8s. I'm pretty sure the Hyundai WILL be a competitor with the pony cars. Think about it, Hyundai is in the DCX family, who just so happen to like parts sharing. I'd expect the guys at Hyundai to team up with the Dodge boys while making that V8. Chances are, the transmission will be straight out of a Dakota. I can't wait...

What the hell? Hyundai is part of DCX? Wasn't aware of that.

They don't. Once again...Hydramatic was wrong....

In 2004, DCX sold the 10.5% of Hyundai owned.

Chrysler, Hyundai, and Mitsubishi were all in bed with each other. Didn't you know that? Even today, the new 4-cylinder engines being put into Calibers were codesigned with Hyundai and Mitsubishi. Hyundai did the block, Chrysler did the dual VVT, and Mitsubishi did something I can't remember off the top of my head. Oh yeah. I forgot about Dodge supposedly getting its own version of the EVO. Anyone know when that's going down?

Were in bed....not anymore. And Hyundai was not involved in engine development with them. Their short (and unloved) union was merely for manufacturing reasons. It ended in 2004. And no, Dodge is not getting a verison of the Evo. It would compete too closely with the SRT4.

Not really surprising I guess. And once again, people are willing to pay it.

Sad, but true. Some folks 'gotta have it now' and are willing to pay.

Me? I'd wait for prices to drop.

lmao! you think some guy in his fifties who is looking to own a car that reminds him of the glory days, at $$$$ over, is gonna buy an $80k nissan?! or a friggin hyundai no matter what the hell it has in it!

the camaros not coming out for a few more years and unless they do come out with the rumored special edition model, only camaro junkies are going to get overly excited about it. the upcoming Challenger and new Z06 are probably the only real competition the shelby has.
