NICE!!! A buddy of mine used to build Cobra replicars when he was younger. He used a Jaguar frame of some type to build his. They are unique and fun as heckfire to drive.

I really want to build a Lotus 7 knockoff sometime. I'd even pass up on modding my Contour if it meant I got to build a real plaything.

I thought long and hard about building this Lotus inspired car; http://www.angelfire.com/biz6/stalkerv6/ Crazy fast Autocross car w/ 240 hp supercharged V6, almost makes a Cobra seem like a bloated luxury car.

Very nice man! I alway;s liked the factory fives...
One question tho... Why no big block? J/K
I know the 302 has a much better supply of parts, but I see em every day. Ever thought about going with a 331 or 347? Maybe even a 351W? Just a thought. I envy you.

My budget has to have some cut off point. My 302 is out of a wreaked 2001 Ford Explorer with only 2,100 miles. My net cost was $750 for the long block, add another $2,000 to dress the motor. A FE427 will cost somewhere near $12,000 dressed. I'm looking to finish the car (with paint) for about 26K. Also remember these cars are only 2,100 lbs, much over 400 hp is wasted due to limited traction.
Cheers, Pat

So strap a cinder block to the rear deck. Yeah, budget is certainly an issue when it comes to engines in those, however, if you aren't in any hurry to build itwhy not do it all the way? What you could do is build it with that 302, and while you drive it around with that puppy, save up for a big dog 429CJ or 427. Either way, that F5 is one nice project car. Gawd, the looks you are gonna get driving that up and down town.....well worth the money it would seem.
