Hmmm... Check your codes, look for an excessive TCC slip code, don't recall the three digit code off hand.

Sounds like we have much the same symptoms. I'm waiting for a replacement valve body and solenoid pack for mine. Had to go to Kansas City last Sunday and trailer the car home...

Go check your codes.

There are several reasons for the harsh shifting. Having any available codes is only the first step in diagnosing the problem.

You can either invest in a scanner which can read tranny codes and real time scan (probably about $200) or you can send it to a shop (probably 1 to 1.5 hours labor, $100 to $150). Check with the shop before you send it in.

It's a 95.

1) No real time scanner for $200 (or just about any dollar amount)

2) Just takes a paperclip to pull OBD-I codes.

Real disadvantage trying to diagnose not having real-time data...

.....

"The CP9150 Kit includes additional cables to retrieve codes and live data for 1984-95 Ford and GM models and 1989-95 Chrysler applications." www.actron.com

Sold in Advance or Autozone (probably about $200).

Edit. You should send it to a shop and have them do a tranny diagnostic.

Hmm... Well, son uv a gun...! That got me to doing some poking around. Looks like Actron figured out a way to access the DCL data port that the Rotunda SBDS and related diagnostics use. Had never run across any aftermarket scan tools with this capability before. Interesting, to say the least!

Anyway, to the tranny. Symptoms are of a 628 (P1744 on OBD-II) condition. In the Transaxles forum are a set of posts by mercman, Unisys12, and btrautman that cover these codes with their experiences. It's good reading and may provide the answer to the OP's issues.
