ok before posting the link to the old topic, ive already found it.

http://www.contour.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=trouble&Number=378401&Forum=trouble&Words=wiper&Match=Entire%20Phrase&Searchpage=0&Limit=25&Old=6months&Main=376894&Search=true#Post378401

but i just want to clearify that im going to seal the right part. we are talking about the frame that holds the cabin filter that is bolted to the firewall, and i will be sealing the frame to the firewall correct? this is the part that is the problem? i was just sitting there installing my tach (car doesnt have one stock) when i noticed water dripping down to the floor. so i yank the carpeting down and follow the drips. they are coming from way up on the blower box most likely right at the firewall.

no wonder the car smells. ive never noticed the leak before, and i had no idea there was a cabin air filter on this car, and obviously other people didnt either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its nasty, so im replacing that too. its like 100% clogged.

oh one last thing, is the drain on the box like on the bottom side of the firewall? i was looking for the drain to see if maybe its plugged, but didnt notice it from the engine bay and i was on an incline so i couldnt jack it up.

The drain for the A/c is from the firewall.

If it is water and if it is a small leak and you can't see water coming out under the car when the a/c is on, it could be the the drain being plugged. Big Jim mentioned in a previous post in the ARCHIVES-PROBLEMS that it could be a plugged A/C drain and the drain runs in the firewall. You need to go under the car to find it just above the exhaust. You may want to clean out the undersides first as it is difficult to find the drain. He used a coathanger wire to clear the drain and you shouldn't push in more than an inch for fear of damaging the insides.

ok thanks. wont be able to get at that drain for a while. was hoping it would be up in the engine bay more, but oh well. i had put a huge bead of silicone around that inlet vent. i noticed the seal was gone in the spot it looked like water was coming in.

now i get to try and dry out the interior and hope the silicone drys before it rains again , surprised i got a dry time right now hope it lasts!!!
