I doubt there is a fuse just for the rear license lights. I suggest you get two new license lights to test it. I had to replace either side three years in a row (at age 4, 5, 6 just before safety inspection). Hasn't happened since then. Is that area rusted? If it is, water could be getting to it and shorting it out.

They are a European style of lamp too. The lookup on AZ computer is wrong. I had to replace mine twice over the years. Take the lamp to the store and size it up.

I think Fuse 23 is for the Backup (reverse) Lamps.

Edit. The wiring diagram from Haynes shows Fuse 31 for license plate lights and instrument panel lights. If your instrument panel is lighted, then the fuse is fine.

thanks will have to check the lights , as Dash works fine. Was not sure as nothing else was out, so I was thinking lights..but then both lights going out at once seemed odd..so I thought fuse...And there is no Rust or anything near it, but I have had watter issues with the weatherstriping on the trunk so maybe some water got in that way from the inside.. Thanks for the help.
