Hey everyone, I just recently (December) did a full IM rebuild with all new spark plugs and wires, cleaned everything, but didn't clean the heads as I didn't want to risk getting anything in the cylinders themselves, everything went fine, forgot to hook up a part of the IMRC linkage, it threw me a CEL, I hooked it back up and then it was fine, but now, I have no secondaries whatsoever and no CEL! I searched and read a post that said the IMRC might be going bad if they work only when first started up then not again, I'll be checking that tomorrow when the engine is cool, but does anyone have any idea? It seems weird to me that it would all be fine one week, then just not work, also when I did the manifold cleaning, I removed the IMRC cover so it didn't cook the internals, car has 87K on it now, should my IMRC be going now? Thanks for the help guys!

well the imrc is a funny thing, I was having issues where I felt that mine had stopped working, no high end power. I removed the pretty cover for a few months and it started working again, its been awhile and it all seems good. I never got a CEL either when I felt it died. I confirmed that they had stopped working when I unplugged the controller and the car felt the same as if they had failed. After my recent intake rebuild I haven't noted any issues and there was never a problem with the linkage.

Ok so now it's throwing me a CEL. I haven't pulled the code yet, but I could move the secondaries manually with the hood open using the spring for them, so everything is hooked up and they work without too much resistence. Who wants to bet my IMRC is dead.

Mine weren't working and I replaced the IMRC with a used one from ebay.

Now, after a couple of months, I am getting a check engine light and a code P1518.
Refers to the Intake runner being stuck.

I see it as the manifold runner sticking, down inside the lower manifold, not the actual IMRC box like Tony was thinking.

I think that I will have to do the manifold cleaning deal AGAIN...

Seems kinda funny that it just started after a recent trip to my Doctors ofice where I had to Valet park the car...

Also, I have done the open Intake deal recently, with the K&N filter mounted on the adapter plate without the stock SVT airbox.

That caused the "Moose" to appear and Bill Jenkins sold me on a New Style Anti-Moose plumbing deal without the tank and a New Air sensor...
Bottom line, the moose left town, but the car seems to run a little funny since and now the P1518 code.

I reset the code but it came back after a short trip.

OK, It reads: P1518

Intake Manifold Runner Stuck Open (Bank 1).

Not the IMRC whick is the Control box that drives the Runners, but the actual Manifold Runner Hardware.

Not quite sure what Bank 1 refers to.

Anyone have any pics or diagrams of the actual Runner...or perhaps a good way to free up or clean the Manifold Runner?

I can do the cleaning with the Injector cleaning type fluids being sucked into the manifold through the vacuum lines with the engine running etc...

Is there anything else that I can do without actually removing the manifolds?

Gary

bank 1 are the cylinders next to the firewall (#'s 1,3 and 5) i think. Bank 2 are the once on the side of the radiator.
i had a loss of power long ago, turned out there was a small white plastic lock that fell and it was holding something together (don't know what it was though), but you can see it pulling (moving) once the car goes over 4000rpm. it is located on the left (driver side) kinda below the throttle body and behind the water pump belt. Its hard to see, since it really below the intake manifold..
hope that helps.

Bank 1 is cylinders 123 (firewall side), Bank 2 are cylinders 456 (radiator side).

BTW, the last time I took apart my UIM I accidently snapped the EGR sensor hose, it's currently taped together with electrical tape, could that be it?

It could, but what is the new CEL code?
