ok a few weeks ago i noticed that my car was acting funny. check engine light pops up and its the crankshaft position sensor. cool i went out and bought another one. well the problem got a little better but i still have the problem. car will rev in neutral at about 1,5-2k rpm and when it feels like it thats when it slowly drops down to normal, and whenever this is occuring and im shifiting gears the car idle stays up whereever i happen to change the gear at. please help me out some thanks.

If your crank sensor goes, your engine quits. Doubt it was bad. What was the actual code you pulled?
Idle speed is controlled by the IAC. They're notorious for gumming up and causing idle problems. Also, be on the lookout for vacuum leaks.

well the car would run fine for about 20mins and then after that it would start to do stupid things. when im at stop light and the car is in neutral the rev would stay high. and sometimes would it gradually come down and sometimes it just stays up. if im going slow the car would want to speed up by itself. if im changing gears the rev would stay high. pretty much where i would switch the gear at. i doubt its a vacume leak because it constantly do this but it doesnt do that. it only do it after 20 mins or so driving.well the guy from autozone pulled the code and told me it was the crankshaft position sensor and for a while i been waiting on a cel to come up and nothing. no check engine light so i dont know what to look for.

Go to another Autozone or Advance and pull the code (s) again (even though it is not lighted, it probably has a intermittent code by now). Then post the code (s). I am surprised they did not suggest an O2 sensor. It seems that is what they suggest most of the time when a CEL code pops up.

The 02 would pop a P0420 code I think. That's what happened to me. I replaced the upstream 02 sensor and it hasn't come on since. Definately get it pulled for codes, maybe something will pop up. My car idles a bit high as well, but I have a Zetec. I just installed a 4 cyl. tach/cluster and not sure how accurate it is. But idle reads just a tad under 1k RPM's.

I replaced the TPS per Dremers Vision advice... fixed the problem, thanks.
FYI- The Murrays and Pep boys TPS sensor didn't work right, so I had to buy it at the Dealer ($52).

I had same problem, but was throwing CEL 122 TPS had them clear it, and came back on after 10miles. I took it off and it would not move freely by hand... After TPS replacement all is well.

Well the new TPS worked great for about 1 week... Now mine is doing it again. Always at 2700 RPM.
When I come to a stop, it falls back down to idle.
