Hi. I think i read here on the site though i can't seem to remember where, that you could replace the AEM Short Ram induction kit's filter with the K&N RU-3530. Is this accurate or did i misread? Is the I.D on both complimentary with one another? I know the K&N is 95mm.

I dont know for sure if AEM ever made a intake kit for our car but you can go for an alternative which has worked the best here. You will need to buy a MAF Adaptor/gasket, K&N RU-3530 and you will have a sweet intake sound with some performance gain Here are the places where you may purchase these from.. MAF Adaptor/Gasket + K&N RU-3530 = look how clean my engine bay use to be ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/drool.gif) now it looks like $hit oh yea and also notice those dimples i have in the middle of my UIM..none of ya'll SVT peeps have that!! Early production baby!

Goonz, what the hell kinda reply is that? ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif) You should be a salesman for CEG. You selling people stuff that only relates to post. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif) Yes, a AEM Short Ram was made but sorry I can't answer the question. I don't know about the sizes. I assuming by his post, he already has a AEM intake and wants to change the original filter that came with the kit.

Hi thank you. I just thought i had read where a a few select members bought the AEM intake and then added the K&N filter. I went thru the posts again and can't seem to find where i read. Was hoping someone would have remembered reading or knew something. Oh hey noticed your intake manifold has a black heated coat paint job. Who did you use? Was it hypercoating? How much if you dont mind my asking? LOOKS NICE

The SVT models all come standard with the Black coated UIM..As for adding the K&N, im positive you can add that without any modification..

Are you SURE the K&N RU-3530 will fit the AEM short-ram intake? B/c I'm looking at the clearance between the end of the standard AEM filter and the side wall of the engine, and it appears that there is only 1-1.5 inches of clearance. Also, the K&N RU-3530 looks HUGE, and it seems like it wouldn't be able to fit at all. I would LOVE to slam the K&N RU-3530 on the end of this intake system, and I will order it today as long as it truly fits.
'98 CSVT Black
-AEM short-ram intake
-Optimized TB
-Optimized y-pipe
-Magnaflow cat-back
-B&M short-throw shifter
-UD pulleys
-Poly mount

I've been tryen to find out that answer for a while. I hope we get an answer. I've searched back about two and half years. Im thinking of just taking a chance and ordering it. Though the AEM i bought comes with a K&N filter its not nearly as big as the ru-3530. http://www.streetstyler.com/Intakes.htm
