My ideal is a Pre-98 with a full SVT kit, and crystal lense one piece headlights. (Yes, I know they are not made.)
98+ headlights are too big and I do not like the trunk reflector. Plus I like the body lines of the Pre-98 trunk and hood more.

i can say that my cup holder cant hold anything! take a turn and it spills, dont know how many times thats happened.
but yeah they have a typical ford wiring issue. insulation on the wires is junk and can crack exposing wires to the elements causing problems. my harness has cracks in it, and since it was under the extended warranty, i told the ford garage to look at it and replace it. but they didnt, so now i get to rewire things. im still within the mileage on the warranty but the manufacture date i do believe has gone over warranty.

Thanks for the replies, everyone.
I like the smaller headlights and taillights on the earlier models. I think that style has a sportier, more "honest car" look. On the other hand, I've seen pictures of late models that looked sweet. My dissatisfaction with my car's looks is mostly because of my blah white paint, boring rims, and spiderwebbed headlight lenses. I could take care of that easily, but I'd rather not spend that money on a Zetec. As I look at more Contours, I'd love to find an SVT with a tan interior and paint it midnight blue. If I had an early model and late model Contour side by side with the aesthetics above and all other things equal, it would probably be a hard choice.

A deep metallic midnight blue (deep enough to look black at certain angles) would look absolutely SICK!!! I would LOVE to see a Tour painted like that. MN blue is one of my favorite colors.
