Couldn't you just get a muffler that has one entrance and two exits in place of the resonator. That might be easier and cheaper than fabing a custom dual setup.

I've actually thought of that once, single in/dual out muff, with 2 separate pipes coming out to the back. I dunno if it'll work, if you look at the gas tank it doesn't give you much room to play with 2 pipes. The true dual setups I've seen from Duratecs have dual pipes running either along side the tank(stock location) or directly underneath(hang too low???) Besides I doubt there'd be much of a diffence in sound compared to just splitting w/ a Y after the tank(SVT exhaust).

If you're going for aesthetics the SVT system is great. If you want the true dual for the performance benefit (especially if running an SC) then the dual exit muffler will be no better than the SVT system - and more expensive. I would expect flow velocity to drop when the volume from one pipe expands & splits into 2 pipes. True dual wins again.
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

I'm not too worried about performance benefits, there's other ways to open up and clear out the exhaust w/o true dual exhaust. Aesthetics is what I'm aiming for.
Another problem: finding an SVT system to use. I doubt there are many in junkyards.
If I get desperate, I'll just have custom bent pipes made.

This is how most of us get hold of SVT exhaust systems. Inexpensive and usually a pleasure to deal with fellow CEGers.

Awesome 1slosvt, you've got yourself a PM. I saw a system I liked yesterday just browsing around...I think it was Buttonpunchers? From what I read it looked like he has a Zetec as well. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I just love posting these things
1999 Zetec ATX. CTA Motorsports intake,
SVT Exhaust - Stock Resonator In Place - NO MUFFLERS!!!
Little More Than Idle
Revving Off The Rev Limiter
Ricer Fly By - Check Out Mikey Boy At The End
Y-Pipe is used to connect the two exhaust manifolds to the exhaust system.
Zetec has only one exhaust manifold.....Get Headers while you're doing your exhaust...

That has to be the best Zetec I've ever heard. My ears are -ing. Are you sure that is all you have done to the intake/exhaust? Just wondering, is that how the exhaust always sounds? Now I want an SVT exhaust. Damn you!
