http://www.contour.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=trouble&Number=1188733&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=7&fpart=1#Post1234104that now active topic has a bit of a similarity with part of my problem in my 96 2.0. my car does buck if i release the clutch quick, but if i hold it i can get it smooth. i had filled my front engine mount, which helped, but then noticed it would buck after i released the clutch and tried to move when cold.
i recently have done a test since i noticed the car was fumbling while i disengaged and tried to stop quickly. when i did this test, i put the clutch in and stopped quickly and the motor wants to and has died. the car constantly throws a p0171 code that seems impossible to fix. its becoming extremely dangerous to drive the car, since i have to downshift, rev, and brake all at the same time to keep it from dying (right foot brakes hard, then gas, and back and fourth like that) but once stopped it idles fine. the car is never smooth, i can never just hold the gas pedal constant, it always wants to jump. im getting very aggravated at the thing, but it may not be the car, it could be something i havent caught that the ford garage has ruined.
things that have been replaced.........
fuel pump (fuel pressure would drop)
fuel pressure regulator
fuel filter
oxygen sensors (both)
iac (by ford garage which may be a problem because i dont think they used a ford part!!!!!!)
ignition wires
plugs
now i havent checked out, in depth, everything the ford garage did. i wish they would have never touched it because i have been fixing all their mistakes which is a big list that probably add up more! im going to check out the vacuum lines and im trying to get a vacuum gauge to stick on it to check it out.
i would like help on this because im fed up with working on it. i have to put another clutch in it, i have no idea why the one i installed like 5,000 miles ago is worn (noticed after 1,000 miles or less). im driving this car back and forth across ohio and it doesnt seem like it can take much more. i need to fix it immediately as my other car is salvaged and i have another car to swap the parts to, but havent got it and still will take time to build.
