so i have a 99 SE and im thinking about getting an exhaust. Would it be worth the 500bucks to get a trubendz cat back? or would it be better if i just try to get a used svt exhaust?

What are you looking for? Performance, Sound, fit and finish, looks???
Trubendz is a great kit but its a little $$$$ for tubing and mufflers.

im looking mostly for sound and i love the look of the dual tips. basicaly i want to be able to hear my exhaust, the stock one isnt cutting it anymore.

how loud? slightly above stock, or loud enough to actually HEAR it.
Do you mind rasp, or do you want it really mellow?

I'd suggest a trubendz with resonators.
SVT exhaust, will be a little louder than what you have, but if you love sound and want some tone, Trubendz will be better for you. I suggest resonated over non-res because at highway speeds, non-res is sorta drony and annoying. Maybe you will like it if you have no headers in your future. I have the non-res on my car, and in a month I'm putting in my 3L inc. headers, so my exhaust will be unbearable. I'mn thinking about picking up a trubendz with resonators.

Trubendz with magnaflow muffler, non-resonated. I just installed my old cat back on Hetfields car and with stock manifolds and cat pipe it stills sounds like kitten. get some headers and then the car starts sounding good...kinda

Non-res is louder and more drone, also its a less mellow tone.

Exactly...at times (highway use) annoying. And if you intend or might do headers in the future, def. do not get non-res.

even with headers and a main cat it wont be too loud. i have msds with a aftermarket 2.5 inch replacement cat with just a dynomax thrush glass pack as a resonator with no rear mufflers and its not too bad. when i had just the ultraflow in the rear with no resonator it wasnt too loud at highway cruising speeds. but at full throttle it was real loud with a lot of rasp since i had no resonator at the time. nest i plan to go with a side pipe just by adding a dynomax super turbo under the car and exit where the jack post is on the side skirt. i dont like the way the non svt contours look with a tail pipe or muffler in the rear, mainly due to the lack of a exhaust cut out or slit. i had duals on it for like a month once and got tired of looking at it.

thanks for all the feedback, i really dont know what i want but i do know i want something louder than stock.
