ok i did a search again and i found 1 topic but wasnt of much help.
so here i go, ever since i dropped in the new motor (dont know about before since i got it with a blown motor)the car has been running lean. i found a few vacuum lines the ford garage decided werent anything left hanging (as with many other parts that were issues!!!!!!!!!!). they had the car since i diagnosed as far as i could to why it wouldnt start and didnt have the equipment to go farther. so anyways i fixed all their mistakes thinking oh its fine now. but then again CEL comes on and same thing with lean condition.
i replaced the o2 sensors (ac delco since motorcraft wouldnt show a rear o2), FPR, fuel pump, and fuel filter. the car idles fine, but sometimes (at least before i replaced fuel pump) the car would just die if i can to a stop kind of quick. after replacing the fuel pump, it seems to be fine with that.
the reason i figured it was the fuel pump is because the pressure would be around 35psi at idle and while driving dropped to 30psi. i havent checked pressure since i replaced the fpr and pump, but im sure thats fixed. my only guess is im left with a bad maf, considering the ford garage had damaged the connector to it while it was there, im sure they probably threw that thing around a bit. i can say though, the ford garage had damaged/removed/swapped parts on the car that were absolutely fine before it left my house so they could get more business. yeah i hear lawsuit there, but my grandfather didnt want to deal with going through that, so i didnt follow up.
but anyways any help on this would be good. like anybody go through a maf, or this lean condition? its a 96 zetec and the recent code (i think it was different before) was a p0171. so im thinking maf now, how wonderful.
